Tony Parker continues to make San Antonio proud. The San Antonio Spurs icon was among the sports legends who carried the torch during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Parker carried the torch that lights the beacon during a portion of the final leg and people all over the Internet couldn’t help but beam with pride.
“That’s San Antonio Spurs’ world champion, France’s Tony Parker,” said commentator Mike Tirico as French tennis player, Amélie Mauresmo, passed the torch to Parker. “He, Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, they together brought so much success and a global field to the NBA and the San Antonio Spurs.
“No French player had really made his mark in the league until Parker came over. Four titles, MVP of the Finals, first Frenchman to be inducted in the hall honoring basketball greatness — paved the way for an entire generation.”
